This forum invited Mr. Chen Feng, Vice President of Kelin Likang, as the host of the event, along with Mr. Qi Yanbin, Partner of Tongchuang Weiye; Professor Lu Laichun from Tongren Hospital; Dr. Wang Haisheng, Founder of Sihai Gene; and Dr. Di Wei, Deputy General Manager of Haibu Pharmaceutical as keynote speakers to share their insights. Experts and scholars from fields such as new drug development, clinical research, pharmaceutical production, and investment in the pharmaceutical health sector were also invited to share and exchange ideas.
After years of rapid development, China has become the second-largest pharmaceutical market in the world. In the process of transitioning from a major pharmaceutical country to a strong pharmaceutical country, the pharmaceutical industry faces multiple challenges in structural adjustment and transformation upgrades. Seeking technological innovation is the cornerstone of sustainable development.

Thematic Report
Welcome Speech: Liu Changru (Chairman and General Manager of Haibu Pharmaceutical)

Host: Chen Feng (Vice President of Kelin Likang)

Speaker: Qi Yanbin (Partner of Tongchuang Weiye)
Report Topic: "2022 Annual Review Analysis of Primary Market Financing in the Medical Industry"
In reviewing 2022, there were a total of 996 financing events in China's primary medical market (as of December 20), which is lower than in 2021. The amount raised decreased significantly to CNY 126 billion, comparable to that in 2019. Excluding IPO fundraising and strategic investments, there were 921 financing events in the medical primary market in 2022. The investment rounds mainly concentrated on angel rounds and Series A funding. Financing events across various fields have shown a significant decline. The overall market financing amount has decreased much more than the number of events. The market has shifted from being hot in 2021 to being calm and rational. Due to valuation discrepancies between primary and secondary markets, policy impacts, and considerations for returns on investment, financing across all fields is trending towards early stages with increased risks; future investment institutions will be more cautious and professional.

Speaker: Professor Lu Laichun (Deputy Director of Institutional Affairs at Tongren Hospital)
Report Topic: "Clinical Research on Gene Therapy for Ophthalmology"
Gene therapy aims to modify or control gene expression or alter biological characteristics of living cells for treatment; it is a technology that modifies an individual's genes to treat or cure diseases. In recent years, related research has proliferated globally like mushrooms after rain. China is no exception; gene therapy research has seen explosive growth with IND applications increasing from single digits to triple digits between 2017 and 2022 over five years. The unique structure and physiological characteristics of the eye make ophthalmic diseases ideal candidates for gene therapy. The number of companies globally focusing on ophthalmic gene therapy continues to rise; ophthalmology has become one of the most richly researched therapeutic areas currently under investigation. However, many projects are still at early development stages compared to foreign counterparts where most projects started later than those abroad. Currently entering clinical research are mainly gene augmentation therapies for ophthalmology; several companies also have gene editing pipelines at preclinical stages but do not yet master new technological therapies domestically. Gene therapy brings new hope for patients but requires national support; scientists, entrepreneurs, and regulatory bodies must cooperate to achieve breakthroughs in scientific research while mastering core technologies and improving policies and regulations to guide healthy industry development better serve patients and benefit society.

Speaker: Dr. Wang Haisheng (Founder & CEO of Sihai Gene)
Report Topic: "The Role of Antisense Oligonucleotides on RNA and New Drug Development"
(ASO) Antisense oligonucleotide drugs are a class that specifically binds target gene DNA or mRNA through sequence specificity to inhibit gene expression at the genetic level as molecular drugs regulated at this level. These drugs have unique therapeutic effects on certain genetic defect diseases with over thirty years' history related research available now in China following Spinraza's approval into national health insurance directory ASO gradually enters public view since then In year twenty twenty co-founder CSO Lai Fan published his new findings regarding ASO mechanisms as corresponding author Molecular Cell linking nuclear single-stranded nucleic acid ASO splicing transcription termination proposing its molecular action mechanism This discovery allows better design develop RNA drugs based on single-stranded antisense nucleic acid ASO laying down molecular biology foundation for ASO's action within cell nucleus Thus R&D surrounding ASO drugs enters new stage.

Speaker: Dr. Di Wei (Deputy General Manager at Haibu Pharmaceutical)
"ADC Drug Small Molecule CMC R&D & Regulation"
As ADC becomes a hot topic in drug development it increasingly attracts attention from pharmaceutical companies while small molecules serve as important intermediates within ADCs also garnering significant focus Design R&D surrounding small molecules primarily emphasizes suitable pharmacokinetic properties controllable toxicity quality consistency without significantly impacting antibodies ensuring overall process control quality stability post-introduction small molecules Regulatory aspects focus mainly upon production process controllability stability product quality consistency chiral structure verification comprehensiveness reasonableness limit setting stability study thoroughness while also considering logical integrity within studies Haibu possesses several years' experience developing linker platforms utilizing S2 series linkers producing HB0321 series ADCs showing superior efficacy data both vitro mouse experiments indicating HB0321b c outperforming marketed ADC products antibodies Based upon our comprehensive experiences good linker design regulatory considerations surrounding small molecule R&D represent key influential factors towards successful ADC drug outcomes.
